Przemysław Gacek from Grupa Pracuj was the winner of the 21st edition of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 competition. Gacek will represent Poland during the international final of the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2023 competition in June in Monte Carlo. The final gala of the Polish competition was broadcast on TVN24 BiS.

In category Production and Services he won Paweł Marchewka, founder and president of Techland.

In category New Business they won Karol Gaweł and Adam Kowalczyk, creators of Smart Kids Planet.

The jury also agreed Special Award. He received it Sebastian Jabłoński, founder and president of Respect Energy Holding.

The jury, in consultation with the Polish Development Fund – the Competition Partner, also awarded: Special Award for international expansion. He received it Piotr Garstecki, president and founder of Scope Fluidics.

Employees, on the other hand, are looking for organizations that will allow them to develop and provide economic stability. Przemysław Gacek has developed an innovative solution that supports entrepreneurs in acquiring talent and helps employees find optimal employment. Main category winners

This year’s title winner EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 – Przemysław Gacek from Grupa Pracuj – won the jury’s recognition because, according to the jury, he is “a complete entrepreneur who changes the world of his clients, employees and the environment for the better.”

“Grupa Pracuj is one of the largest companies in the field of HR technology in Europe. The company, founded in Poland in 2000, has been operating in Ukraine since 2006, and from 2022 also in the DACH region. Grupa Pracuj is a public company listed on GPW, employing almost 1,100 people, representing 15 nationalities,” it was written in the press release.

Gacek also won in the category New Technologies/Innovation for “creating Europe’s leading technology platform that helps people realize their full professional potential”.

“The founder and president of Grupa Pracuj will represent Poland during the international final of the competition EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2023. The Pole will compete for the title of the best entrepreneur in the world with the winners of local editions of the competition from nearly 60 countries,” the release said.

Award in the category Production and Services awarded to Paweł Marchewka from Techland for “successful transition from a family company to an international giant”.

“Techland, a renowned developer of AAA games, has been consistently strengthening its position on the global gaming market for three decades. Its flagship product is the ‘Dying Light’ series, which has sold over 40 million copies. Techland, with a team of over 450 specialists, achieves 98 percent of revenues internationally. In 2023, Techland concluded a partnership agreement with Tencent,” the announcement explained.

In turn, the award in the category New Business for “creating a company that earns, entertains and teaches” went to Karol Gaweł and Adam Kowalczyk from Smart Kids Planet.

“Smart Kids Planet is the first Smart Play Center for children in Poland created in the spirit of the ‘edutainment’ trend, i.e. education through entertainment. The first educational space was created in 2019 at the PGE Narodowy stadium. During the pandemic, entrepreneurs created Smart Box (it was delivered to 7,000 people on 4 continents), Internet broadcasts and TV programs with Smart Fun. The center returned in October 2022 at the Norblin Factory in Warsaw. Already in the first year of operation, Smart Kids Planet was visited by almost a quarter of a million people,” the release said.

Winners of special awards

“The jury also agreed Special Award For Sebastian Jabłoński, founder and president of Respect Energy Holding. The award was granted to ‘an extremely ambitious entrepreneur, operating on a huge scale in a strategic industry’ – it was written in the press release.

It was added that “Respect Energy Holding is an international company with entirely Polish capital and a leading market position in Poland” and “currently operates on 24 markets and cooperates with a group of over 600 energy producers.”

“The company is a buyer, producer, supplier and seller of energy exclusively from renewable sources. Respect Energy Holding also invests in infrastructure for the production of green energy, mainly in wind and photovoltaic farms. The entrepreneur also plans, in cooperation with the French concern EDF, to develop energy projects nuclear power plant in Poland,” it was explained.

“The jury, in consultation with the Polish Development Fund – the Competition Partner, also awarded Special Award for international expansion. He received it Piotr Garstecki from Scope Fluidics. In its justification, the jury stated that the award goes to “an entrepreneur who has successfully combined the world of science and the world of business, creating a team of specialists unique in Poland and achieved international success in commercializing the created technology,” it said.

It was also written that “Professor Piotr Garstecki, president and founder of Scope Fluidics, is one of the youngest full professors in Poland who developed his scientific career at Polish universities and Harvard University.”

“He effectively combines the world of science and business – he combines the love of science with a business, pragmatic approach to challenges. The company he founded, Scope Fluidics, is a company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange that develops medical technologies. The company focuses on the BacterOMIC technology – addressing urgent challenges related to antibiotic resistance of bacteria.” – stated in the announcement.
