Farmers associated in Agrounia were not allowed to meet Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who visited Turów in Western Pomerania on Saturday. First, they heard that they did not need invitations, but they could not enter due to health and safety and fire regulations. Then they didn’t have invitations. As they say, they wanted to ask about coal, high prices and problems in agriculture.
In July, the prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as other politicians from the ruling party, continue their tour of Polish towns. On Saturday, the head of the government met in Turów (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) with the inhabitants of the Szczecin poviat. The meeting started at 6.00 p.m. in the primary school. Tadeusz Kościuszko. A group of farmers from the Agrounia group gathered in front of the building and they said they wanted to talk to the prime minister. Some of them were holding banners. They were not allowed into the room.
Why were the people of Agrounia not admitted?
– There are no places, we do not let in, we must adhere to the health and safety and fire protection regulations. There are no invitations, everyone could enter, but you had to come earlier – the representatives of the organizers told farmers from Agrounia who wanted to take part in the meeting. Moments later, however, they were told that only “those who had received the invitation and confirmed their presence” were admitted to the meeting. Both versions were recorded by TVN24 cameras.
– What an invitation, this is another lie – the farmers were indignant. – We will follow him (Prime Minister Morawiecki – ed.) To the next meetings. Maybe he will make up his mind one day. And if not, the time of their rule is coming to an end – a representative of Agrounia told TVN24.
After the meeting, the farmers also failed to talk to the head of government. – Prime Minister, come to the farmers – cried the people gathered in front of the school. There were shouts of “pinocchio” and “liar” in the background.
Meetings with the prime minister are not for everyone
Last Saturday Saturday, July 9, also some citizens had problems entering a meeting of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki with the inhabitants of the Rypin commune – especially those who brought banners with slogans criticizing the actions of the government. Moreover, during the meeting, the mayor of Rypin, Paweł Grzybowski, snatched a banner with the slogan “Pinocchio the notorious liar” from the hands of one of the men. The Office of the Human Rights Defender took the floor on this matter.
In June, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Kostrzyn, where he met with supporters of Law and Justice. The head of government spoke about the successes of the ruling party and criticized the opposition. The farmers from Agrounia were also not admitted to this meeting, even though they had previously received accreditations.
Earlier, in May, two farmers – Filip Pawlik and Dawid Kraska – were put on trial for disturbing public order during the opening of the eastern bypass of Września in March 2021, where Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was present. – It is for the fact that we wanted to meet with the prime minister, today we have a case in court – said one of the accused farmers after the first hearing. The second added that “it is about martyrdom of the organization” in which they operate. – To show other farmers not to join, because the case is going to go to court soon – he said.
