Automation of verification in CEPiK: The process of checking data regarding driving licenses in the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPiK) by entrepreneurs will be automated. Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski announced on Tuesday that this will happen “in the coming days, for sure until the end of January”. This reaction a 14-year-old was fatally hit by a courier company bus driver lost his powers to drive a vehicle. – The fact that an unauthorized driver was able to perform his job is incredible – Gawkowski said at the conference.
How will automatic verification work? Currently, authorizations in CEPiK can be checked manually. Soon, the entire process will be “automated and available to entrepreneurs in an easy and clear way,” Gawkowski said. Verification regarding drivers employed in companies is to be carried out “every day” and “free of charge“. The system is supposed to generate alerts for entrepreneurshowever, will require the company to actively check them. – We will provide tools that will allow the company to automatically display in the morning, e.g. 6 a.m. whether the drivers who leave have authorizations – declared the Minister of Digitization.
What happened: The new system is the result of the tragedy in Warsaw. The accident occurred on January 3. – The driver did not give way to a 14-year-old who was on a pedestrian crossing. After being hit, he did not provide help and fled the scene. Immediately after the incident, hit, the young man was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately he died – reported Jacek Wiśniewski from KSP. On January 5, the Warsaw Police Headquarters announced that a person suspected of hitting a 14-year-old boy had been detained. “At the time of the arrest, the 43-year-old was intoxicated, he had almost two per mille of alcohol in his body. Activities are ongoing,” the Warsaw police said. According to unofficial findings of RMF24 the man was banned from driving (his powers were retained in 2023). He was also noted many times.
