Prelate Zdzisław Sochacki, pastor of the cathedral parish in Wawel, died on Thursday in Krakow at the age of 67. Recently, he was in the hospital. To commemorate the deceased, the Sigismund bell will ring on Thursday afternoon.
The message about the death of the clergyman was published on Thursday by the Archdiocese of Krakow.
The Zygmunt Bell will sound to commemorate Father Zdzisław Sochacki
Father Zdzisław Sochacki was the pastor of the cathedral parish of St. Stanislaus and St. Wenceslas in Wawel since 2007. He was appointed to this position by the then Archbishop of Krakow, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz. The clergyman was also a general canon of the Metropolitan Chapter. To commemorate the deceased, the Sigismund bell will ring around 5.15 – 17.30 on Thursday.
Fr. Sochacki was born in 1954 in Sucha Beskidzka. He studied at the Pontifical Academy of Theology. He was ordained a priest on April 29, 1979 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski.
For four years he worked in the parish of Christ the King in Bielsko-Biała Leszczyny, and from 1983 to 1989 in the parish of the Holy Family in Zakopane. From 1989, he worked at the Major Seminary in Krakow, where he was an educator for seminarians, as well as the director of economic affairs.
