Fatman Scoop is dead, the famous rapper was 53 years old

American rapper Fatman Scoop has died at the age of 53, British broadcaster BBC reported. The man collapsed on stage during a concert in Connecticut on Friday.

The artist, the BBC reported, was halfway through his performance at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, when he fainted on stage.

The mayor of Hamden said after the incident that the musician had a “medical emergency on stage and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.” On Saturday, the rapper's agency, MN2S, confirmed that the man had died.

In a statement to the BBC, MN25 said: “Scoop was a much-loved figure in the music world and his work was loved by countless fans around the world.”

Pure Cold, the rapper's tour manager, wrote in an Instagram post that he was “at a loss for words.”

On September 7, Fatman Scoop was due to perform at the UK's Reminisce Festival, which called the news of his death “devastating”.

Fatman Scoop, real name Isaac Freeman III, was born on August 6, 1971 in New York City. He was an American rapper and radio personality. He gained fame for his 2003 hit “Be Faithful”, as well as guest appearances on songs such as “Lose Control” by Missy Elliott and “It's Like That” by Mariah Carey.
