A foehn embankment is a spectacular phenomenon that appears when strong winds blow in the mountains. On Thursday, they were observed and filmed by Mr. Grzegorz in the Karkonosze Mountains. He sent the recording to us on Kontakt 24.
There is very strong wind in southern Poland on Thursday. During a foehn, i.e. a warm and dry wind that blows from the mountains towards the valleys, you can notice the phenomenon of a foehn embankment. Mr. Grzegorz was in the right place at the right time. He managed to film the clouds waving and somehow flowing over the peaks.
“He was visible for 30-40 minutes”
– This morning I noticed this beautiful phenomenon and decided to record it. I live in Karpacz and I know when to expect such views – he said in an interview with the editorial office of Kontakt 24
As he added, “today the autumn foehn embankment was visible for about 30-40 minutes.”
These clouds form when air rises above mountain ridges, then descends and warms rapidly.
