According to junior aspirant Dawid Kryś, press officer of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Kościan, 15 fire brigades are working on site. The fire covers one of the waste heaps located at the plant. A specialist chemical and ecological rescue group from Poznań arrived at the site before 2 p.m.
– For now, the flames are under control. We pour water over the fire site to prevent the waste from re-igniting, Kryś said. When asked about the sounds of explosions coming from the landfill, the firefighter explains that there are aerosol cans in the facility and they are the source of the gunshots. – There is no threat to residents. No one was injured in the fire, the spokesman noted.
