Block temporarily disabled

The firefighter informed that, in accordance with procedures, several fire extinguishing units were sent to the area of ​​the Jaworzno Power Plant, but ultimately not all of them were needed to extinguish the fire. For safety reasons, the block has been temporarily disabled.

No one was injured in the incident.

Tauron also published a message about the fire. The information provided by the fire brigade was confirmed and added that “the scene of the incident is secured by fire brigades.” “The block has been closed for safety reasons,” it was noted.

Glitch problems

The 910 MW unit was launched with a delay in November 2020. A few months later it was shut down due to faults. It was restarted – also with a delay – at the end of April 2022. It was later temporarily shut down twice more.

Tauron was in a months-long dispute with Rafako, which constructed a power unit in Jaworzno worth over PLN 6 billion. The contractor claimed that the defects resulted from the inadequate quality of coal supplied to the unit. Ultimately, the settlement was signed in March 2023.

In March 2024, the company announced that the 910 MW unit had passed all acceptance tests and was ready for commercial operation without restrictions.
