Everyone knows that the mission of forming a government in the form of parliament that exists now is extremely difficult – admitted government spokesman Piotr Mueller in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24. In the program, he confirmed that Elżbieta Witek was to be PiS’s candidate for the Presidium of the Sejm.

When asked whether he believed that he had been entrusted with the mission of forming a government Mateusz Morawiecki this task for four years, not for two or four weeks, said that PiS “will do everything possible to make it happen, but everyone knows that the mission of forming a government in the form of parliament that exists now is extremely difficult.”
When asked why PiS wanted to do it, Mueller explained that “they should try.” – This is a kind of honesty towards our voters who decided for us to hold the reins of government – he said.
– In the first step, the president entrusted us with the mission of creating, and it is our duty to do what we can, show program differences, show how we would like to implement the mission of running the government for the next four years. If this fails, Donald Tusk becomes prime minister. This is what the constitutional procedure looks like, he concluded.

Elżbieta Witek is the PiS candidate for the Presidium of the Sejm. “There is no alternative discussed.”
Later in the conversation, Mueller was asked whether Law and Justice will put forward a candidacy Elżbieta Witek for Deputy Speaker of the Sejm. – This is the scenario planned for today’s session of the Sejm and I hope that the Sejm will accept this candidacy – replied the government spokesman.
As a reminder that many lawyers, constitutionalists and judges assessed that Elżbieta Witek, ordering a resumption of voting in August 2021violated the rules of procedure of the Sejm, Mueller stated that resumption “is provided for in the rules of procedure of the Sejm at the request of members and can be carried out” and that “this is not the only case of resumption in the history of the Polish parliament.”
The host of the program, Konrad Piasecki, specified that lawyers assessed that Witek in that situation abused the institution of resumption for political purposes. He also recalled that most resumptions in the Sejm took place for technical reasons.

When asked whether PiS could nominate another candidate, Mueller replied: – We do not foresee such a scenario for now. There is no such alternative discussed at all in our parliamentary group. We are reporting you to Marshal Witek, he said.
