A manhunt for Grzegorz Borys, who is responsible for the murder of a 6-year-old from Gdynia. President Andrzej Duda invites representatives of all parties that entered the Sejm to talks. Opposition politicians raise alarm about suspicions of destruction of documents in government institutions. Here are five things to know on October 21.
1. Murder of a 6-year-old boy. Manhunt for 44-year-old Grzegorz Borys
The body of a six-year-old boy was found in one of the apartments on Górnicza Street in Gdynia. A manhunt for the murder suspect is underway. The police confirmed that the wanted man is the boy’s father. She also published the image of 44-year-old Grzegorz Borys. The Military Police confirmed that he is an active soldier of the Polish Army. Police officers check identity documents, cars and trunks, and forests are also searched.

2. Consultations with parties after the elections
On Tuesday and Wednesday, at the invitation of Andrzej Duda, consultations with representatives of the electoral committees that will be represented in the next term of office of the Sejm will be held at the Presidential Palace. Meetings will be held separately with each of the election committees, in the order consistent with the results achieved by these committees in elections.
President Duda himself said in an interview for “Tygodnik Solidarność” that he “will have a list of questions prepared” and will ask them to all groups. He announced that he would ask committee representatives, among others, about potential candidates for prime minister, and will also “ask the sacramental question whether they think they have a majority that would allow them to push through their candidate for prime minister.”
3. Signals about the destruction of documents by the government camp
More and more opposition politicians talk about suspicions of destroying documents in government institutions before handing over power to the new government. This was reported by, among others, MPs of the Civic Coalition, Michał Szczerba i Cezary Tomczykas well as the head of the Left Club, Krzysztof Gawkowski.

4. Electricity prices, however, are going up
The cogeneration fee rate in 2024 will increase from PLN 4.96 this year to PLN 6.18 per megawatt hour (MWh), according to the regulation of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, which was published on Friday. Initially, the ministry announced that the fee amount would not change.
The authors of the regulation noted that “the cogeneration fee rate will have a negligible impact on the bills of end users of electricity.” Estimates of the Ministry of Climate show that this will mean an average burden of approximately PLN 18.53 per year for one household. Assuming that the average annual electricity consumption is 3 MWh.
5. Hamas released two US hostages
