Wizz Air suspends flights to Israel and Jordan due to “escalating situation in the region”
Airlines Wizz Air canceled flights from Poland to Israel and Jordan, as well as return flights. A statement on this matter was published on the X portal. It says that the carrier has suspended flights until August 4 inclusive. The reason given was the “escalation of the situation in the region”.
The decisions of LOT Polish Airlines and Wizz Air are the result of growing tensions in the Middle East. Recently, there was an attack on the Golan Heights occupied by Israel, in which 12 people, including children, were killed. Israel accused the Lebanese Hezbollah of carrying out the attack, and in retaliation killed the military commander of that organization. In turn, on July 31, the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in Iran. Hamas accused Israel of murdering Haniyeh. The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it would take revenge on Israel for the murder of the Hamas leader.
