The commander of Operation “Feniks”, General Krzysztof Stańczyk, and the government plenipotentiary for post-flood reconstruction, Marcin Kierwiński, visited Głuchołazy (Opole Voivodeship) on Saturday, the Territorial Defense Forces reported. “We are working with full commitment to restore normality to residents,” the statement said.

“The flood wave caused enormous devastation in this town,” it was written on the official channel WOT on website “Intensive cleaning, renovation, engineering and construction works are underway on site, carried out by 160 Polish Army soldiers,” we read.

“We are working with full commitment to restore normality to the inhabitants of Głuchołazy. Every day of work is a step closer to rebuilding the city after the disaster. We support the community and are constantly working to restore the safety and functionality of all affected areas,” wrote the WOT press release.

The aim of Operation Phoenix is ​​to mitigate the effects of the disaster on local communities and accelerate the reconstruction of infrastructure.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wiesław Kukuła, announced on Saturday that four countries have been initially selected to help with Operation Phoenix – Türkiye, Germany, Great Britain and United States. He noted that a number of people expressed their willingness to help NATO countries and more.
