The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate is appealing to residents affected by flooding to use bottled water. This is due to problems with access to drinking water that may occur in flooded areas.
As reported by Marek Waszczewski, spokesman for the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, water from flooded private wells is not suitable for consumption. After the flood recedes, disinfection of the wells and water testing will be necessary.
He added that detailed information on the suitability of tap water for consumption is available at district sanitary-epidemiological stations.
Drinking water supplies for flood victims
The Association of Polish Cities joined in helping cities affected by the flood through an information and coordination campaign.
The union stressed that the most urgent needs at the moment are: bottled drinking water, long-life food, cleaning and personal hygiene products and pet food.
Residents of Warsaw have also joined in helping flood victims. Supplies of bottled water, among other things, will be delivered to residents of southwestern Poland.
