On Sunday evening, the spokesman for the Jelenia Góra city council, Marcin Ryłko, reported that the water level on the Bóbr River within the city limits was record high, which is why it not only exceeds the alarm level, but also overflows the flood embankment.

– The information that the embankment has cracked or been breached is untrue. It is intact, but there is so much water in the river that it is flowing over the top of the embankment and there is increasing flooding on part of Wiejska Street – said the spokesman.

He also reported that the situation in the centre of Jelenia Góra is very difficult, where entire areas of the city centre are flooded from Podwale, through Osiedle Robotnicze towards Grunwaldzka Street.
