The situation in many towns in Lower Silesia and Opole is still extremely difficult. Residents are anxiously looking at the sky and at water gauges. This is the case in Nysa, Kłodzko, Lądek Zdrój, Stronie Śląskie, the Wleń commune, Kamienna Góra, Lwówek Śląski and Prudnik. “We have lost the battle with the great water. It will slowly flood the town,” wrote the mayor of Wleń, Artur Zych, on social media at night.
Lower Silesia
A dramatic situation occurred at night in Wlen commune in Lower Silesia. “Please move to higher floors or evacuate to the school in Wleń. The water is rising very quickly. It may break into Wleń! Take your money, documents and medicines. The situation is very serious!” – appealed on social media the mayor of the city and commune of Wleń, Artur Zych.
After 2 a.m. he wrote that Wleń had lost the battle with the great flood. The water began to pour over the embankments. The situation was very serious.
“We lost the battle with the great flood. The water has overflowed the embankments behind the Elizabethan Sisters' Centre. It will slowly flood the town. Unfortunately, we will not stop it here. I thank everyone who fought so bravely. The water will still be in the taps for about 8 hours. Unfortunately, the generator at the water intake is flooded and will not power the pumps. Tomorrow we will try to provide provisions and water,” wrote Artur Zych.
The situation is also becoming more difficult in Stone Mountain. Water has flooded streets, buildings and is threatening bridges. Some roads are impassable, in places the water is waist-deep. Sandbags are running out. After several days of downpours in the city of 17 thousand, water has flooded streets such as Tadeusz Kościuszko, papieża John Paul IIMłyńska, Słowiańska, Katowicka, Zamkowa, Okrzei, Wiejska, Aleja Wojska Polskiego, the housing estate at Jeleniogórska Street, the bridge and the road towards Antonówka.
They are also watching with concern what is happening in Lwówek Śląski. In a conversation with TVN24 reporter Łukasz Wójcik, Mayor Dawid Kobiałka admitted that the situation is dynamic and not very optimistic.
– We are optimistic. A mobile flood barrier has been built, which allows for a certain reserve in terms of water flowing to us. Soon the dam in Pilchowice will overflow and a mass of water will flow to us. A cascade of water has been activated, which means that the water is already 600 cubic meters per second, which is a much greater result of water than in 1997. We have started the evacuation of residents – he said.
Jelenia Gora also has great reason to be concerned. On Sunday evening, the spokesman for the Jelenia Góra city council, Marcin Ryłko, reported that the water level on the Bóbr River within the city limits was record high, which is why it not only exceeds the alarm level, but also overflows the flood embankment.
– The information that the embankment has cracked or been breached is untrue. It is intact, but there is so much water in the river that it is flowing over the top of the embankment and there is increasing flooding on part of Wiejska Street – said the spokesman.
He also reported that the situation in the centre of Jelenia Góra is very difficult, where entire areas of the city centre are flooded from Podwale, through Osiedle Robotnicze towards Grunwaldzka Street.
– It is not only the Bóbr that is flooding us there, but also the Młynówka River and the situation is getting worse. The water level in the streets is getting higher and higher. Unfortunately, water is being discharged from overflowing retention reservoirs and this is causing our city to flood – assessed the spokesman.
IN Lądek Zdroj It will be hard for a long time. This incredibly picturesque health resort suffered extremely badly during this year's flood. The losses are enormous. A similar situation concerns Klodzko and located nearby The Silesian Side. In Stronie Śląskie, water flooded the city, causing a police station to collapse.
The situation of the inhabitants of the lower-lying buildings is also described as tragic. Nysa Kłodzkaand especially small towns in the vicinity of this city.

Opole Province
In the Opole region there are floods Glucholazy. Despite the efforts of firefighters, residents and city authorities, on Sunday the floodwaters of Biała Głuchołaska tore off the structure of a temporary bridge along national road no. 40. The structure of the target crossing under construction nearby was probably also damaged.
The temporary bridge on Biała Głuchołaska was to serve as a crossing point until a permanent bridge was built along the national road DK 40. After the water level rose, a decision was made on Friday to close the bridge to vehicle traffic. Preparations for the defense of the structure also began.
The situation is critical in Nysa in the Opole region, where after increasing the discharge of water from Lake Nyskie to Nysa Kłodzka, the water is flooding the streets of the city. The cause, apart from heavy rainfall, is the increased discharge of water from the Lake Nyskie retention reservoir to Nysa Kłodzka after a dam burst in Stronie Śląskie. The city is waiting for the culminating wave to pass.
Dramatic scenes unfolded at the county hospital, where water flooded the emergency department. Patients were evacuated from there on inflatable boats and boats. National Health Fund reported that 33 patients were evacuated, including children, pregnant women, patients from the internal medicine and surgical wards.
Due to the rising water level in the Prudnik River, in the town Prudnikthe bridge on national road no. 40, connecting Prudnik with Głogówek, was closed until further notice. The police marked out detours through Prudnik on local roads.
