Flood victims with a housing loan will be able to use the Borrower Support Fund. The aid will consist of repaying installments over a 12-month period, regardless of the amount of the loan installment – announced Finance Minister Andrzej Domański during Wednesday's meeting of the crisis team.
– As for borrowers in flood-affected areas, we will introduce changes to the Borrower Support Fund. Flood victims with a housing loan will be able to take advantage of special assistance consisting in repaying the borrower's obligations, i.e. installments, over a period of 12 months, regardless of the amount of the loan installment – said the Minister of Finance.
Applications can be submitted in paper or electronic form. The support provided will not be refundable.
Domański added that he had spoken with the Polish Bank Association and the largest banks about deferring installments. – I received assurances that work is underway on a plan to defer installments on loans other than housing, including loans for SMEs – he said.
Prime minister Donald Tusk he added that the flood victims' housing loans would be written off for 12 months. – The state – through the fund – will take on the repayment of these loans – he emphasized.
