Flooding, which was the result of heavy rainfall, affected the province of Esmeraldas located in the north-west of Ecuador. The damage caused by the element is estimated at about 1.3 million US dollars.
Violent storms have hit the south-western regions of Ecuador in recent days. The element was accompanied by intense rainfall, which led to extensive flooding.

Flooding in the province of Esmeraldas damaged around 1,600 hectares of farmland, of which 519 hectares were completely destroyed, local authorities said.
The Ecuadorian Ministry of Agriculture estimates the losses at around US$1.3 million.
