Foreign objects in the Polish sky. Colonel Piotr Łukasiewicz and Commander Maksymilian Dura comment

We are in the midst of a very deep crisis between the civilian leadership and the generals. And here comes the message to the society that things are going wrong upstairs – said Colonel of the reserve Dr. Piotr Łukasiewicz in “Fakty po Faktach”. – We accept the simplest logic for us, that all this happened by accident, that the Russian rocket on December 16 flew in by accident, that these balloons fly in by accident. And such a narrative suits everyone, both the military and politicians. In fact, all this may be an intentional act, assessed reserve commander Maksymilian Dura.

Within several dozen hours, two foreign objects flew into Polish airspace, according to information provided on Saturday by Ministry of National Defence and deputy chief MIA.

On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak referred at a press conference to the matter of the remains of an unidentified military facilityfound at the end of April near Bydgoszcz. He stated, inter alia, that “inspection findings indicate that the procedures and response mechanisms (…) worked properly to the level of the Operational Commander, who did not properly fulfill his duties” without informing him – as he claimed – about “an object that appeared in Polish airspace. Błaszczak said that if this object, probably a rocket, actually flew across Poland and ended up near Bydgoszcz completely unnoticed, “this is a very disturbing thing.”

In turn, on November 15 in Przewodów, on the border with Ukrainethere was an explosion of a Russian missile, as a result of which two people were killed.

These incidents were commented on in Saturday’s “Fakty po Faktach” by Reserve Commander Maksymilian Dura, Defence24 expert, former head of the Department at the Command and Communications Board of the Naval Staff and former Polish representative in FOR THIS and a reserve colonel, doctor Piotr Łukasiewicz, former ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Afghanistan.

Łukasiewicz: A message is being sent to the society that bad things are happening upstairs

– From the beginning of this war, it was necessary to have a realistic conversation with the society about what this war is. We are perfectly aware of what it means from the humanitarian and refugee point of view, as well as human losses and what costs the Polish society bears in this matter – said Łukasiewicz.

He noted that he saw no reason “to not sensitize us, citizens, to how this war can spill over the Polish border, even in the case of such incidents.”

– Here’s the problem. We have a military layer that runs its own tracks. We also have a political layer – indicated the TVN24 guest. He pointed out that during the ongoing election campaign, “the matters of Poland’s defense preparations were until recently a powerful argument in favor of the authorities.”

– And this narrative fell apart quite strongly in a few days. We don’t have a multi-layered anti-aircraft defense that allows us not to wonder what’s flying over the sky. Well, unfortunately, that’s not the case. And such things need to be explained from February 24 [ubiegłego roku, od początku rosyjskiej inwazji na Ukrainę – przyp. red.]not since May [bieżącego roku – red.]when we are in the midst of a very deep crisis between the civilian leadership and the generals. And here comes the message to the society that things are not going well up there, said the former Polish ambassador to Afghanistan.

Dura: such an event may happen again

– We accept the simplest logic for us, that all this happened by accident, that the rocket on December 16 flew in by accident, that these balloons fly in by accident. And such a narrative suits everyone, both the military and politicians. In fact, it could all be intentional, Dura said.

In his opinion, the incident that took place on December 16 “showed that Poles are completely unprepared for this type of action.” – Perhaps this rocket was not aimed at Ukraine, but at Poland in order to show how weak we really are. And these balloons that are flying now show that we are not able to counteract these types of objects – said the expert.

He added that the object that flew over the territory of Poland the day before “could be both a weather balloon, but also a spy balloon or a balloon that will sabotage, drop something, set fire to the forest.” – But this balloon flew and nothing was done to this balloon. And that’s probably the problem, he said.

Referring to the object found near the village of Zamość near Bydgoszcz, probably a rocket that was supposed to fly over Poland last December, Dura said: – Let us remember that this rocket was a threat to all people who were on its route.

He emphasized that “luckily it fell in the forest, but it could have fallen in the city as well.”

He added that an event such as the tragedy in Przewodowo, where two people died as a result of the explosion of a Russian missile, “could be repeated very quickly.”
