Former deputy head of the CBA, Grzegorz Ocieczek, did not appear before the investigative commission for Pegasus

Former deputy chief CBA Grzegorz Ocieczek was to be questioned at the meeting of the investigative commission convened at 10. The deputy head of the committee, Tomasz Trela ​​(Left Wing), said that by 9 the committee did not receive an excuse for his absence. After Ocieczek did not appear, the head of the investigative committee, Magdalena Sroka (TD-PSL), said that he was informed about the meeting and “was perfectly aware of the fact that his interrogation was to begin on Monday at 10 a.m..” Due to his absence, the investigative commission unanimously decided to send a request to the District Court in Warsaw to punish the former deputy head of the CBA with a financial penalty.

Commission chairwoman Magdalena Sroka (Trzecia Droga, PSL) said on Friday that Grzegorz Ocieczek is one of the key witnesses due to the fact that he was the deputy head of the Bureau at the time when the Pegasus system was purchased. She noted that, according to the testimonies of other witnesses, it was Ocieczek who “directly supervised and even signed certain documents related to the operational control used using the Pegasus system.”

Vice-chairman of the commission, Tomasz Trela, emphasized in an interview in the PAP Studio that Ocieczek is a key person in the context of the application and use of the Pegasus system. – This is the moment when we need to start asking how the CBA was used, who gave the orders, whether Mr. Ocieczek participated in the purchase of the Pegasus software, who he talked to about it and many others – he mentioned.

Ocieczek was first the head of the District Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, and in 2006-2007 he worked at the Internal Security Agency (ABW), where he was the Director of the Criminal Proceedings Department, and then the deputy head of this agency. In 2015, he was appointed deputy head of the CBA and held this position until 2020. At the same time, he remained a retired prosecutor.
