Former Polish ambassador in Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki was asked in “Facts after Facts” about the conversation between Wołodymyr Zelanski and Donald Trump on the margins of the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis. Cichocki estimated that Ukrainians optimistic accepted news about the meeting of the presidents.

As he assessed, in the statements of Donald Trump “you can see the expected correction”. – It is not just criticizing Ukraine and some kind of submission to Russiabut there is a statement of basic facts: that Russia is murdering civilians, Russia strikes a highly imprecise weapon in the city and must be aware of the possibilities of a large number of civil victims – said TVN24.

– What can be said with conviction is that the United States remain in this process (work on suspension of weapons – ed.). This is very important. It would be a dream come true Vladimir Putinthat the United States would leave Europe alone with Russia. For now, Putin does not seem to come true – said the former ambassador.

Cichocki: Ukrainians want to live in peace, but not at all costs

Cichocki, who now arrives in Kiev and visits various places in Ukraine, said that “Ukrainians of course want to live in peace, but they are not ready for peace today at any price.”

– They defend themselves for the fourth year. I also talked to soldiers. Today, the front does not really look like Ukrainians have to sign the surrender. This front is kept mainly on drones, artillery, on anti -personnel mines. The Russians, if they do not undertake a new, large mobilization, I do not see the threat in the coming months of the strategic break of the front – believes the guest of “Facts after Facts”.

Asked if there is a politician who would agree to suspend their arms under the conditions that Crimea and four Ukrainian circuits would be given to Russia, and Ukraine declares that he will not enter NATOCichocki replied: – Such a politician with a Ukrainian passport would probably be found if the Russians brought him in a briefcase.
