MichaĆ Kuczmierowski, former president of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, was detained in London – TVN24 unofficially established. A European Arrest Warrant was issued for him.
The prosecutor's office accuses Kuczmierowski of participating in an organized criminal group and exceeding his authority and failing to fulfill his duties in order to gain financial benefits. He faces 10 years in prison.
On August 31st he was put up for execution European Arrest Warrant and an Arrest Warrant covering United Kingdom Great Britain and Ireland North. In the afternoon, police arrested him in London, UK.
Robert ZieliĆski, a reporter for tvn24.pl, established that procedures related to his possible transfer to Poland are currently underway.
RARS irregularities
The charges leveled against Kuczmierowski are the result of an investigation into irregularities at the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, which he headed. In addition to him, the charges are also directed against PaweĆ Szopa, the creator of the Red is Bad clothing brand.
The investigation concerns, among other things, the commission of from February 2021 to November 2023 exceeding the powers and failing to fulfil the duties of RARS employees in order to gain financial benefits. This concerns, among others, the delivery of power generators to the government agency by PaweĆ Szopa's companies for PLN 350 million, even though he had previously purchased them in China for less than 70 million zlotys.
