The search for 2.5-year-old Emile, who went missing on Saturday in the French town of Vernet, is underway. Due to the lack of results, the search operation was changed on Tuesday. Meanwhile, French media say investigators are looking at one hypothesis in particular regarding the possible causes of the boy’s disappearance.

Despite three days of intensive searching, it still hasn’t been found 2.5-year-old Emile, who disappeared from his grandparents’ yard in Vernet in the south of France on Saturday. On Tuesday, the French services changed the way they search for the child, because the previous methods did not bring results. According to local media, currently entry to the village is only allowed for residents. Hearings of the Vernet community are being conducted, and phone calls in the area are being checked to determine who was in the area at the time of the child’s disappearance.

According to the French station BFMTV, the services also decided to narrow down the search area from Tuesday and focus on the village of Vernet itself. Marc Chappuis, the prefect of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, quoted by her, confirmed that from Tuesday the actions would be “more targeted”, but did not provide any details.

It is known that a thorough search of the village is underway, and investigators are trying to find even the slightest trace of the child or any clues. The searches used a voice message recorded by the boy’s mother, played over a loudspeaker and repeated over and over again in the hope that Emile would hear it and come out of a possible hiding place. However, this also did not work.

Hypotheses after Emile’s disappearance

According to the French media, the theory of third party involvement in the whole case seems to be more and more likely. The newspaper “La Provence” claims that the investigators are verifying in particular the hypothesis that the boy may have been traffic accident with a car or tractor. However, a representative of the local prosecutor’s office emphasized that investigators did not attach particular importance to any of the possible causes of the boy’s disappearance.
