In France, an attempt to escape from one of the largest penitentiaries was thwarted. A fugitive, who had made a hole in the wall of her cell and slid down on the sheets that were tied together, was caught, reported the Ministry of Justice in Paris.
A French resort quoted by radio France Info said the woman tried to escape on Sunday morning and was then arrested. It turned out that she managed to poke a hole in the wall of the cell. She passed the tied sheets through it and after them she “rolled” to the ground.
Prison guards immediately inspected all women’s cells at Fresnes prison, outside Paris.
The Escape resembles the main axis of a Stephen King short story and Frank Darabont’s 1994 film “Stuck to Shawshank” based on that prose. One of the most famous films of the 90s was nominated incl. to seven Oscars.
The escape investigation has already started, the ministry informed. The ministry added that in the budget for next 2022, financing in the amount of EUR 4.5 million was planned for security in Fresnes.
According to the French media, the 31-year-old prisoner is suspected of sympathizing with the so-called Islamic State (IS). Prior to her incarceration, the woman traveled to Syria to join IS.
