French prosecutors have launched an investigation into the rape allegedly taking place at the Elysée Palace, French media reports. The soldier was about to be sexually abused by another soldier in July after the farewell party of President Emmanuel Macron’s associate.

The BBC, citing local media, wrote that, according to the testimony of the soldier, she was supposed to be sexually abused in July after the farewell party of the senior officer, a member of President Macron’s personal military staff.

The soldier accused by the woman was interrogated, but has not yet been formally charged. Both the alleged victim and the soldier were senior security officers and they both knew each other, according to Liberation, which first reported the case.

According to the BBC, the woman filed a complaint with the police station the day after she was about to be raped.
