Meanwhile, French media report that the local residents’ case of the boy’s disappearance has refreshed the memory of the tragedies that took place in the area in previous years. “Fear, sadness and concern can be seen on the faces of some 200 Vernet residents” at the lack of traces of the missing boy, BFMTV reported on Wednesday. “The more time passes, the less they want to talk. BMFTV notes that this is not the first time that outsiders have been banned from Vernet. Similarly, the village was cut off from the world in March 2015, when only a few kilometers from it The Germanwings Airbus A320 pilot intentionally crashed the plane with 150 people on board. All passengers and crew members died. The local community of Vernet then joined in helping the rescue teams – reminds BMFTV. Residents are also reminded of that catastrophe by the tombstones in the cemetery in Vernet, in which the unidentified remains of the victims of the catastrophe were buried.

BMFTV reports that the villagers also remember very well another tragedy that happened in 2008. Jeannette Grosos, manager of the local Café du Moulin, was then beaten to death by a man. The perpetrator of the murder was a 21-year-old client of the premises. In the wake of those tragedies, the people of Vernet are increasingly afraid to talk about the ongoing search for a 2-5-year-old boy.
