In Nanterre, France, a silent protest march was organized on Thursday after the teenage Nahel was shot dead by a police officer. We call on all believers to be servants of peace, and we are all ready to contribute to it together,” he wrote. Bishop of Nanterre in a press release, also calling on “religious leaders of the city of Nanterre for dialogue and peace.”

Clashes with the police

17-year-old Nahel M. was shot dead on Tuesday morning when the police stopped him for breaking traffic rules. A police officer is in custody, he is suspected of murder. The lawyer of the family of the deceased announced that he would file an additional complaint against the officers, accusing them of giving false testimony about the course of the event.

The French agency AFP, citing the prosecutor’s office, said that the use of firearms by a police officer against the teenager was unjustified. Reuters reported that the officer was under investigation.
