The champagne was recovered, the thieves escaped
Officers quickly located vehicles equipped with tracking devices and began a pursuit on the A4 motorway between Reims and Paris.
The stolen cargo was recovered, but the thieves escaped.
According to Le Parisien, the truck loads were crates of Moet & Chandon champagnes, one of the most famous brands in the world. The value of each trailer was estimated at EUR 300,000.
Two police cars took part in the chase. The thieves tried to lose them. When the officers managed to block the path of one of the trucks, its driver left the vehicle and was picked up by a sedan escorting the convoy. The second vehicle left the highway and was found without its driver.
