The extension of the validity of this regulation will contribute to improving the situation of borrowers with a housing loan in a foreign currency, said Deputy Minister of Finance Artur Soboń. For the next two years, the so-called relief for franchise holders will apply. This means that the PIT and CIT tax waiver will be maintained in its current form until December 31, 2024.

Ministry of Finance reminded that the regulation of March 11 this year was in force until the end of 2022. on abandoning the collection of income tax on certain income (revenues) related to a mortgage loan granted for housing purposes. Pursuant to this ordinance, tax was waived from the redeemed borrower on the basis of a settlement of the amount of receivables from a foreign currency mortgage loan, as well as benefits received by a natural person from a housing loan in connection with the negative interest rate.

PIT exemption for franchise holders

Magdalena Rzeczkowska, the Minister of Finance, quoted in the statement, said that “for another year, we are meeting the needs of franc borrowers and extending the validity of tax relief. Without it, it would be necessary to pay tax on the redeemed loan amount, which is de facto tax revenue.

Pursuant to the amendment, the abandonment of tax collection will cover two subsequent tax years. This means that the omission of personal income tax and CIT will be maintained in their current form until December 31, 2024. – The extension of the validity of this regulation will contribute to improving the position of borrowers with a housing loan in a foreign currency – said Deputy Minister of Finance Artur Soboń.
