Fraudsters impersonate PKO BP and Pekao – CSIRT KNF warning

Cybercriminals have prepared a fake website impersonating PKO BP – warns the cybersecurity team at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (CSIRT KNF). He also adds that fraudsters impersonate Bank Pekao.

“Cybercriminals have prepared a fake website impersonating PKO BP. Entering your login and password there may result in the loss of your funds,” wrote CSIRT KNF on social media.

The team also added: “Don't get robbed and always carefully check the address of the website you are on!”

“We warn against dangerous advertisements on Facebook in which fraudsters impersonate Bank Pekao SA,” wrote CSIRT KNF.

He explained that “after clicking on the ad, the victim goes to a malicious website where he is tricked into installing the fake PeoPay CASHBACK application.”

“Don't get robbed!” – appealed the CSIRT of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.

Fraudsters impersonate banks

Earlier, CSIRT KNF warned against fraudsters impersonating PKO BP, and about the campaign of fraudsters impersonating mBank.

At the beginning of January, CSIRT KNF warned against fraudsters impersonating ING Bank Śląski. Cybercriminals tried to extort electronic banking data through fake websites.

Earlier, CSIRT KNF also warned against fraudsters impersonating the BNP Paribas bank. As indicated, cybercriminals sent e-mails with false information. It was about the alleged need to update data.
