A French senator is being investigated over allegations he drugged an MP with the intention of sexually abusing her.
Joel Guerriau is a member of the conservative Horizons celebration, which is a part of President Emmanuel Macron‘s ruling coalition authorities.
The 66-year-old has been accused of drugging Sandrine Josso, 48, who’s from the centrist Modem celebration.
Mr Guerriau’s lawyer, Remi-Pierre Drai, informed Reuters information company he was below investigation for administering “a substance liable to change her discernment or management over her actions, as a way to commit rape or sexual aggression”.
He’s additionally being investigated “for possession and use of gear labeled as medication”.
The senator has denied the accusations.
Ms Josso’s lawyer, Julia Minkowski, mentioned she had felt ailing after consuming a glass of champagne at Mr Guerriau’s flat.
She claimed she had seen him dealing with a small plastic bag with a white substance.

It isn’t clear why Ms Josso, whose celebration can be a part of the federal government, was on the flat.

Mr Guerriau has been positioned below judicial management whereas the Paris prosecutor’s workplace carries out its investigation.
He’s barred from contacting Ms Josso or any witnesses.
