Frost gripped almost the entire country on Tuesday night and in the morning. In the coldest place it was as much as -6 degrees Celsius. The next nights and mornings will also be very cold in some regions.
On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the temperature in most of Poland dropped below zero. The coldest was in Kozienice (Masovian Voivodeship), where -6 degrees Celsius was recorded. Thermometers showed almost the same value at 6 a.m.
The frost was even greater near the ground. The temperature was -8 degrees C in Kozienice, Łódź and Rzeszów – reported the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management.
Cold, arctic air flows into Poland from the north of the continent. The weather is influenced by high pressure, which is why in many places the sky is cloudless, but the night clearing also favors significant temperature drops.
On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday the temperature is expected to drop most in the south, east and center of the country. Thermometers will show from -2 to -4 degrees C, but locally, in Podkarpacie, the Lublin region and the Świętokrzyskie region, Frost of up to 6 degrees is possible, and the temperature at the ground may drop to -10 degrees Celsius.
On the night from Wednesday to Thursday Residents of the eastern and south-eastern parts of the country will see negative values on thermometers. The temperature will be from -1 to -3 degrees C, and locally from -4 to -6 degrees C.
Warmer nights over the weekend
The weather in Poland will change at the end of the week. – Cloudy weather will prevail throughout the country, as a result of which the temperature will no longer drop so much – explains tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Damian Zdonek.
On the night from Thursday to Friday, from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday, the thermometers will show minus values only locally in the southern regions. It will be from -1 to -3 degrees Celsius there.
