The amount of the funeral grant has not been changed since 2011. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki answered the question whether the government was working on increasing the amount of the benefit on Sunday in Pszczew. – There are no such works at present. We have very different programs that we have in mind to present during our election campaign – explained the head of the government.
The funeral grant is a one-time benefit granted by ZUS or KRUS (for farmers) due in the event of the death of a close person. This is to be a compensation for the burial costs incurred.
The funeral grant is 4,000 for family members. PLN, regardless of the funeral costs incurred. In turn, a foreign person or an employer, a social welfare home, a commune, a poviat, a legal person of a church or a religious association are entitled to an allowance up to the amount of the costs incurred, but not more than PLN 4,000. zloty.
Funeral Allowance up?
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the conference at the sports facility in Pszczew, he was asked, among others, “whether the government plans to increase the funeral allowance from PLN 4,000 to PLN 15,000 and whether any work on this subject is underway.”
As the Prime Minister pointed out, “there are no such works”. He also pointed out that “currently we have very different programs that we have in mind to present during our election campaign, so that we can work on various elements of this very broadly understood social policy.”
– We will work through them, but there is no such change as the one you are asking about – said Morawiecki.
Answer to the inquiry
Earlier, the deputy family minister, Stanisław Szwed, in response to an interpellation by Hanna Gill-Piątek, informed that “currently, detailed analyzes are underway in the Ministry of Family and Social Policy regarding the possibility of changing the amount of the funeral allowance, so that its amount takes into account the costs of the funeral on the one hand, and on the other and the financial capacity of the Social Insurance Fund and the state budget, which supplies the Social Insurance Fund with a subsidy each year supplementing the level of income from contributions to the level of expenditure on social insurance benefits.
The representative of the family ministry did not specify when the amount of the funeral allowance could increase. He reminded that the current amount has been in force since March 1, 2011.
