Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury fought two fights in Saudi Arabia for the heavyweight championship titles. The Ukrainian won both of these fights and in both of them he was better than his opponent on points. The competition was, of course, preceded by trash-talking, i.e. mutual insults, teasing the opponent and pointing out one's superiority. However, there is something on which the boxers agreed.
Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are as consistent as ever. They indicated the future heavyweight dominator
Despite differences on many issues, the two outstanding boxers agree on one thing – the choice of the future heavyweight star. So far, no new, recognizable figure has introduced itself to a wider audience in the “royal” category, but according to Fury and Usyk, Moses Itauma shows such ambitions.
This 20-year-old was born on Slovakiabut he represents Great Britain and has a record of 11-0-0 and nine triumphs throughout knockout. In 2024, his record was a victory over Mariusz Wach by knockout in the second round. The young player gave the Pole the fastest defeat in his entire career.
– Moses Itauma is the future of our division – said Oleksandr Usyk in November 2024 in an interview with the Seconds Out website. Now, in an interview for TNT Sport, his opinion was shared by his recent rival Tyson Fury. – Who will dominate in the future? Moses Itauma and Nick Ball are diamonds – admitted the Briton.
So who is Nick Ball? He is also British, but older, 27 years old. His current record is 21-0-1, with 12 wins by knockout. Ball holds the WBA featherweight title and we probably won't see him in the heavyweight division. According to Fury, however, he has a chance to dominate his category.
In 2024, Fury himself saw Itauma's strength, because he sparred with a much younger colleague just before the fight with Usyk. Moreover, the 20-year-old boxer defeated Demsey McKean at the gala in Riyadh, before the Usyk-Fury fight.
