During the second day of the Poland of the Future Campus, the main event was the meeting with the participants of the Warsaw Uprising – Wanda Traczyk-Stawska and Anna Przedpełska-Trzeciakowska. The Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, called this meeting “the most important one on the Campus”. Both shared their memories of the uprising with the participants of the meeting, but also answered questions from Campus participants. – Don’t be indifferent when someone is hurt. Do not pretend that you cannot see when evil is happening – said Wanda Traczyk-Stawska when asked by Borys from Wejherowo about the most important principle that is worth following in life.
Traczyk-Stawska encouraged young people to learn languages and make friends, “because you don’t shoot friends”. She urged us to always defend the weaker, for example people with disabilities or excluded people – such as refugees. She appealed to “do everything possible so that there is no war again, because there is nothing worse than war”.
– 600,000 people left the insurgent Warsaw: dirty, ragged, lousy. We were refugees and other cities took us in. I ended up in Kielce. That is why I feel obliged to the refugees who are now traveling on the border and in other places of the world – said Anna Przedpełska-Trzeciakowska. She encouraged young people to read literature and hold Oxford debates in order to be able to communicate with everyone “even those who have the most distant views”. – Only together can we oppose evil – said Przedpełska-Trzeciakowska.
The participants of the Warsaw Uprising, when asked to forgive the torturers, said that “forgiveness does not exist”. – Evil cannot be forgotten and not everything can be forgotten. But that’s not important. It is important to go further anyway – said Przedpełska-Trzeciakowska.
