Iran is a threat to international peace and stability, stated the foreign ministers of the G7 countries. According to them, evidence suggests Tehran was behind the drone attack on the Mercer Street tanker late last week.
“All the evidence we have points to Iran. There is no justification for this attack,” the statement said. “Iran’s conduct, including support for proxy forces and stateless fighters, is a threat to international peace and security,” he added.
G7 officials called on Tehran to stop “all activities inconsistent with applicable UN Security Council decisions.” “We also call on all parties to play a constructive role in promoting stability and peace in the region,” they appealed in a statement.

Attack on the Mercer Street tanker
The Mercer Street tanker, owned by Zodiac Maritime, owned by Israeli billionaire Ejal Ofer, was attacked on Thursday last week off the coast of Oman. Two people died as a result of the incident.
On Sunday, UK Foreign Minister Dominic Raab accused Iran of carrying out a “deliberate attack in clear violation of international law” using drones, and promised to work with allies on a “joint response”. Earlier, Israel had made the same accusation against the authorities in Tehran.
