Garwolin. “He made a steady income from committing crimes.” Arrest after a series of thefts in supermarkets

He tried to take alcohol and other items worth PLN 6,000 from only one store. There are already six proceedings against the 48-year-old, but preliminary investigations show that there will be more, all over the country. The court temporarily arrested the man on the grounds, among other things, that he had made the theft a regular source of income.

– The 48-year-old has committed a series of thefts in supermarkets in the Garwolin district since April for three consecutive months. He regularly visited stores and took alcohol, chemical and food products from the shelves. Only from the market in Pilawa a few days ago, a man took goods for over six thousand zlotys, but he was stopped by security in the parking lot. Six proceedings are currently pending against a 48-year-old resident of the Ryki poviat. The total value of the stolen goods is over PLN 13,000. Małgorzata Pychner from Garwolin.

Previously punished many times

At the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office, the court ordered the suspect to be arrested for three months. It included e.g. multiple previous criminal convictions of the man, currently committing acts in conditions of return to crime and the number of pending proceedings against him. In the justification, the court indicated that on the basis of the collected evidence, it can be concluded that the 48-year-old made crimes against property a permanent source of income.

The case is in development. – The preliminary findings of the investigation show that the suspect has committed a number of similar crimes throughout the country. For theft in the conditions of recidivism, he is punishable by up to 7.5 years in prison – adds subcommander. Malgorzata Pychner
