The police in Garwolin are investigating the case of bribes given in exchange for technical tests of vehicles. The detained diagnostician was to issue certificates for vehicles which he had never inspected. The court decided to arrest him on remand for three months.
Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Garwolin discovered irregularities in one of the vehicle inspection stations in the Garwolin poviat, combating economic and corruption crime. Their findings showed that one of the diagnosticians was to accept bribes for issuing certificates of technical tests, which he never carried out.
According to the press officer of the Garwolin police, Małgorzata Pychner, the officers analyzed dozens of various types of documents and interviewed many witnesses. They then confirmed that the 65-year-old diagnostician had repeatedly issued certificates of completed technical inspections of vehicles. – The man, however, never saw these vehicles, and still issued his clients with a positive test certificate. He was charging a fee for allegedly performed activities, she said.
The man heard the accusations of accepting a financial advantage in connection with the performance of a public function and the declaration of untruth. The court decided to impose a three-month pre-trial detention on him. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
Accused two men who were supposed to pay bribes
The policewoman added that two men who handed the diagnosis bribes to the diagnosis for the technical examination will not be avoided.
– An indictment was brought to the court against two persons who, in return for an entry in the registration certificate, presented the diagnosis with a financial benefit. For this, it is threatening up to 10 years in prison – the spokeswoman for the police said.
Officers are continuing to investigate the case and determine whether there have been any more such cases.
