Gazprom says it is still transporting gas through a pumping station in Sudzha, a town in Russia. “Gazprom is still delivering gas through Ukraine. Despite Gazprom's assurances, the volume of transit through Sudja on Thursday fell by 6 percent. compared to the previous day. This is also the lowest result since May 1, 2023 – reports epravda.com. As a result, gas prices in Europe shot up to the level of not seen since December 2023. A jump of 4.84 percent pushed the cost of gas up to 38.45 euros per megawatt-hour.

Ukrainians have been attacking the Kursk region of the Russian Federation for several days now. On Wednesday, August 7, there were reports that about 400 soldiers had occupied several border towns, including the town of Sudzha, where a transit gas pumping station is located.
On Wednesday, Russian bloggers reported that the pumping station had been occupied by the Ukrainian side. The information was also provided by political commentator Igor Sushko, who added that almost 50 percent of the gas flowing from Russia to the EU is transmitted through the pumping station in Sushka, which remains the only active gas pipeline supplying the European market.
However, Moscow and Kremlin authorities have not issued an official statement on the matter. Only Gazprom announced only on Thursday that it is still pumping gas in Sudzha.
