Who was Gavin Creel?

Gavin James Creel was born on April 18, 1976 in Findlay, Ohio. His grandmother was a music teacher, and from an early age the man performed for his parents with his two older sisters. In high school, he joined the choir and began performing in musicals, and later pursued a career in acting. In 1998, he graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance. He loved more than just performing on stage. He was also a lyricist. He also became known as an advocate for LGBT+ rights, helping to found an organization called Broadway Impact, which supported same-sex marriage when it was banned in much of the United States. In 2009, he convinced the producers of “Hair” to cancel the show for the cast and members teams could take part in the march for LGBT+ rights that took place in Washington.
