Israeli authorities say more than 240 Israelis and foreigners have been captured and taken hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Among those waiting for her return is Lishay Lavi, a woman whose husband was kidnapped.
Lishay Lavi had only seconds to give her husband Omri one last message before he was kidnapped by Hamas fighters as they burst into their kibbutz on October 7.
The woman told Reuters reporters that members of the Islamist group, pointing firearms, forced the family to move to a neighboring house and took her 46-year-old husband.
– I told him four sentences that I loved him, that I would take care of our daughter, that I was waiting for him. I also told him: don’t be a hero, because I want you to come back here, she reported.

Hamas attack and Israel offensive
Israeli authorities say it was one of the most traumatic days in its 75-year history Israel over 1,200 people were killed and over 240 Israelis and foreigners were captured and taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
Israel launched a military offensive in the Gaza Strip, which, according to the Palestinian authorities, killed over 13,000 people.

Israeli military leaders vowed to liberate as many hostages as possible.
The hostages’ families are waiting for their loved ones to return
The days of waiting are difficult for the hostages’ families. Lavi must answer her two-year-old daughter Roni’s increasingly persistent questions about what happened to her father.
– He asks where dad is. At first she thought daddy went to work. After two days, she assumed that daddy had gone on a trip. And after today she said, and we have told her so far, that “daddy is lost,” Lavi added.
Most of the world’s attention has focused on the children and elderly hostages, but Lavi said the husbands and sons taken by the militants should not be forgotten either.
– I need my Omri back, I need my man. I want the whole world to understand that Omri was taken from our home, in boxers, without shoes, Lavi appealed.
