We have received a request from the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately evacuate Al-Quds Hospital in the Gaza Strip because it will be bombed, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Sunday.
The organization added that on Sunday morning there were airstrikes 50 meters from the facility, as a result of which the hospital was very seriously damaged. The medical facility is located in the Tel al-Hawa district of Gaza City.
– We have no way to evacuate a hospital with over 400 patients. Many of them are in intensive care. Evacuation means their death. That’s why we refuse to carry it out. We call on the international community to intervene immediately to stop the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe, said Nebal Farsakh from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, quoted by Reuters.
Dozens of hospitals and health centers were closed
According to Reuters, an Israeli army spokesman declined to comment when asked about the Palestinian Red Crescent Society’s statement regarding Al-Quds Hospital.
Authorities Israel accuse Hamas of locating command centers and military infrastructure near hospitals, which Hamas denies, reports Reuters.
At least 30 hospitals and health centers have already been closed in the Gaza Strip because they have run out of medical supplies and fuel, the authorities of the Palestinian exclave said. It was stressed that more hospitals are expected to be completely closed in the coming hours and days if essential supplies of fuel and medicine do not reach Gaza.
Gaza, a Palestinian enclave, has been bombarded since October 7 in response to an attack by Palestinian Hamas militants that killed approximately 1,400 people in Israel and kidnapped more than 200. The Gaza Strip’s health ministry says about 8,000 people have died in Israeli attacks.
