Gdańsk. Attack on a taxi driver during a night trip. The suspect was taken to pre-trial detention

On Tuesday, the prosecutor charged a 27-year-old man with committing the crime of attempted murder with direct intent in connection with a robbery and deprivation of liberty. As Grażyna Wawryniuk, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, explained, the alleged crime is punishable by imprisonment for a period of not less than 15 years or life imprisonment. The suspect was also charged with possessing marijuana and amphetamine and possessing a hunting cartridge without the required permit. The man was questioned by the prosecutor’s office.

– He partially pleaded guilty to the first charge. He fully confessed to committing the other two crimes, Wawryniuk said.

At the request of the prosecutor, the court temporarily arrested the suspect for a period of three months.

The perpetrator was arrested on Sunday. The victim’s documents, drugs and a bullet were found at his place of residence. On Monday, another man, a 41-year-old resident of Gdańsk, was also arrested in connection with the case. As PAP found out, he was questioned as a witness. He was arrested because he was wanted to serve a sentence for theft.

The incident took place on Saturday, around 4 a.m. A 27-year-old man then ordered a taxi.

– Afterwards, he attacked the injured party using incapacitating agents – a stun gun, tear gas and violence, hitting the injured party repeatedly in the head and other parts of the body – reported the prosecutor. The perpetrator ordered the victim to get into the trunk. He took cell phones, a wallet with money (PLN 2,000) and documents.

– Then he drove to another place, where he pulled the injured party out of the trunk and threw him on the bank of the watercourse. Then he tied tape around his head, including part of his mouth and nose, she added. After the fact, the perpetrator drove away, leaving the victim in a closed car.

The next day, the family of the missing 25-year-old announced the search on social media. She reported the matter to the police. Officers found the victim’s car near Martwa Wisła in Gdańsk. A 25-year-old man was tied up in the trunk and was taken to hospital in serious condition. – According to the preliminary court-medical opinion, the injured party suffered injuries that impaired the functions of body organs and impaired health for a period longer than seven days, and was exposed to a direct threat of loss of life or serious damage to health – said Wawryniuk.
