The head of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, appealed for understanding for the WOT soldiers and reservists helping with the flood on social media. He emphasized that many of them “will not show up for work or school tomorrow.” According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, about a thousand soldiers have already taken part in flood-related activities.
General Wiesław Kukuła referred to the fact that soldiers performing Territorial Military Service and active reservists were called up to fight the flood. “I kindly ask for understanding from all employers and teachers. Understanding this situation will be important support from you for us,” the general said.
A thousand soldiers involved
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Sunday that the army was actively helping to fight the flood.
– Around four thousand soldiers are already in full readiness, other units remain in reserve. We have created four groups of Territorial Defense Forces and eight engineering groups of Operational Forces – he added.
According to him, about a thousand soldiers have already taken part in various flood-related activities, and the largest number of them – about 200 – are currently engaged in the Kłodzko commune.
On the same day, the Ministry of National Defense published on its X profile short recordings made from military helicopters.
“Helicopters are evacuating people because other means of evacuation are currently very limited. Our crews are already in action!” – it was written.
