12 restaurant workers were found dead in the Gudauri ski resort in the north-west of Georgia, the Interior Ministry in Tbilisi reported. “Investigative activities are being carried out,” it was reported. Georgian media report that the probable cause of death could have been an accident.
Gudauri is a ski resort in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meters above the sea.
On Saturday, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced in a statement that the bodies of 12 people employed at the same facility were found on the second floor of an Indian restaurant in Gudauri, in the bedroom area. The ministry said that of the 12 deceased, 11 were citizens of other countries and one was a citizen of Georgia.
An unfortunate accident
“Investigative activities are being carried out. Autopsies will help determine the cause of death,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. It also reported that in a closed room next to the room where the body was found, there was a generator that was started after the power was turned off in the restaurant (probably due to weather conditions).
Also on Saturday, the Newsgeorgia website wrote that 11 of the dead were Indian citizens. The probable cause of their death could have been an accident, he wrote.
