Gerhard Schröder unable to testify before the commission. Professional burnout syndrome

German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder went to a specialist clinic because of the burnout syndrome (so -called Burnout). Information these were confirmed by the DPA agency, the former lawyer policy.

In mid-January, because of his illness, Schröder canceled his participation in the interrogation before the Mecklenburg Parliament Commission-Front Homes. It was about building a controversial Baltic gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.

In a medical certificate for the investigation commission, which has now been published, doctor Schröder states “a typical professional burnout syndrome with signs of deep exhaustion and a serious lack of energy.” The 80-year-old politician also suffers from “difficulty with concentration and memory, as well as sleep disorders”.

“Unable to testify before the commission”

Schröder “is not able to cope with the physical and mental burden related to the prolonged – especially public interrogation before the investigative committee”. Schröder's lawyer asked on behalf of the family to respect the privacy of the former chancellor.

Schröder will be 81 in April. In the years 1998–2005 he headed the rule of Germany. After the chancellor, he became a lobbyist in favor of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which is mostly Russian property companies. This work was criticized from the very beginning, and especially from explosion Russian war against Ukraine.

In Mecklenburg-Pomerania, the front case is now dealing with the National Parliament. Schröder was supposed to testify a little over a week ago, but he canceled his testimonies due to health problems.
