Tap water warning issued as precautionary measure – reports Reuters. The water may have been intentionally contaminated. The base employs 4,300 soldiers and 1,200 civilians on a daily basis. A breach in the fence was found, which may indicate an intrusion into the facility.
The spokesman for the Territorial Command in Berlin confirmed that the base had been closed, but he stopped there. “We have our reasons for taking these actions and we take this matter seriously,” he said. The matter is being investigated by German services. The base has been surrounded by a military cordon and it is not possible to leave or enter it – Euronews reports.
