Unknown perpetrators stole 60 tons of paving stones from a road in Zittau, Saxony. The amount of the damage is approximately EUR 30,000. The police are investigating this.
“Unknown perpetrators stole a huge amount of cobblestones from a freight station in the city of Zittau in Saxony. According to the federal police this week, 60 tons of paving stones were involved. Only sand remained in the area of 300 square meters,” writes the portal of the station mdr.
Deutsche Bahn employees noticed that the ankle was missing and informed the police on January 10. The police have limited the time for committing the offense to the days between December 16 and 23, 2021.
The police are investigating
It is known that heavy equipment, such as a small excavator, was used to remove the pavement. A truck was needed to remove the loot. The amount of the damage is PLN 30,000. euro, because for 20 thousand. euro is estimated for the road repair itself, and 9 thousand. euro is needed to buy paving stones – informs dr.
It is not known whether the paving stones remained in Saxony or were transported to other neighboring countries. The police are currently investigating – as underlined – “in all directions”.
