Two people, aged 16 and 81, were seriously injured by gunshots in the north-western German town of Bramsche, Osnabrueck police said. According to this information, one of the two injured people is the perpetrator of the attack. Witnesses to the incident, which happened near the elementary school, alerted the police around 7.30 – reported the portal of the daily “Bild”.
After shooting another person, the attacker injured himself, a spokesman for the Osnabrueck police said. Officers were able to detain the person suspected of firing the shots shortly thereafter.
A spokesman said both the attacker and the victim were transported by helicopter to a hospital where they were given medical treatment. The witnesses of the event were questioned.

The shooting happened near the Martinusschule primary school, but it was unrelated to the incident, a Bramsche police spokesman said. The school itself was not affected. Students and teachers who witnessed the incident are being looked after. The scene of the incident was secured by officers.
