Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Bundeswehr employee who was allegedly spying for Russia. “We remain vigilant at all times,” said German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann.
“Today, the Prosecutor General arrested a German official who is seriously suspected of working for foreign secret services. Thank you to everyone who was involved. We remain vigilant,” said the Justice Minister German Marco Buschmann.
As described by the portal of the “Bild” daily, Thomas H. from May 2023 “repeatedly and on his own initiative” contacted the Russian consulate general in Bonn and the Russian embassy in Berlin. Prosecutors confirmed that the man repeatedly offered Russian diplomats cooperation.

Thomas H. relayed to representatives Russia information he obtained through his work in the German armed forces. He was employed at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Operations of the Bundeswehr.

The accused is in custody and was interrogated on August 9. The arrest warrant for Thomas H. was issued on July 27, 2023, “Bild” found out.
As the daily portal added, his home and workplace were also searched.
