The Russian ombudsman for children’s rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, plays an exceptionally perfidious role during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, writes the portal of the German weekly Der Spiegel. Experts accuse her of participating in crimes against humanity and genocide.

According to “Spiegel”, in Russia’s current war with Ukraine, Maria Lwowa-Biełowa plays a particularly perfidious role – a woman who has been an ombudsman for children’s rights since 2021.

“As a self-proclaimed ‘savior’ of Ukrainian children, she most likely organized their deportations and abductions from the occupied territories,” emphasizes “Spiegel”. Children who have lost their parents or have been separated from their mothers in the camps are given new names and then put up for adoption by Russian families.

“The resettlement is in line with the ‘deukrainization’ demanded by Putin. Lviv-Belova is dealing with this Russification project, and she presents her ‘successes’ on Telegram,” adds “Spiegel”.

Involvement in crimes against humanity and genocide

The assimilation of children abducted from Ukraine takes place in “re-education and psychological rehabilitation centers” in Moscow, Rostov and Tuapse – a city on the north-eastern coast of the Black Sea. “Children who attend these centers receive both ‘care’ and ‘daily instruction in the Russian language and history,'” Lvova-Belova boasted on Telegram.

Experts accuse Lviv-Belova of participating in crimes against humanity and genocide, “because if the identity of children is changed by force, and hundreds of thousands of children have already been deported from Ukraine to Russia, this is nothing more than genocide,” Spiegel points out.

Lwowa-Biełowa is the mother of five children. Together with her husband, an Orthodox priest, she adopted five more, moreover, she is legal guardian thirteen disabled children.

“With her large family, religious zeal and commitment to charity, the supermother is an ideal role model in the spirit of Putin and the Orthodox Church. Thanks war in Ukraine this former guitar teacher has become the center of attention,” concludes Spiegel.

The ICC issues an arrest warrant for Lviv-Belova

The portal of the German weekly reminds that from autumn 2022 European UnionUSA, Canada, Australia and Great Britain accused her of participating in the forced adoption of Ukrainian children, as a result of which she was placed on the sanctions list.

“Russia has forcibly taken over 16,000 children from Ukraine, who are being Russified and trained to fight against Ukrainians,” said the Ukrainian Ombudsman for Children’s Rights, Daria Herasymchuk.

International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 17. The judges found that there are real grounds to believe that Putin is responsible for war crimes involving the unlawful deportation of children from occupied Ukraine to Russia. On the same day, the ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Maria Lvova-Belova, accused of the same crimes as Putin.
