BERLIN — German authorities have detained a Syrian man on suspicion of planning to hold out an explosives assault motivated by Islamic extremism, officers stated Tuesday.
Federal police stated officers detained the 28-year-old man early Tuesday within the northern metropolis of Hamburg.
Investigators say the person is suspected of making an attempt to acquire substances on-line that may have allowed him to producer an explosive belt “so as to perform an assault in opposition to civilian targets.”
Police say the person was inspired and supported in his motion by his 24-year-old brother, who lives within the southern city of Kempten. The boys, whose identify wasn’t instantly launched, are described as being motivated by “radical Islamist and jihadist” views.
